Snake or Worm? You Be the Judge!

Yesterday the younger kids found this little "thing" in our yard. It looked like a really long skinny black worm but it kept sticking it's TONGUE out! hmmm.... snake?  No- we can't see eyes or a particular head shape even! We all kept trying to figure out what it was- we pulled out the encyclopedias and looked up the words "snake" and "worm".  We scoured a library book for a picture of it.  Hannah came to the conclusion at one point yesterday that it was a baby skink.  She said that some of them have no arms or legs when they're babies.  That was a consideration but I think she gave up on the idea because after dinner all of us kids were all bent over it on a paper plate on the front porch examining and figuring.  I brought my camera out and with my zooming in on one of the photos I took I think I solved the mystery but I'll let you be the judge of that.

Ok here are some photos....

What you see there was all we could see with our naked eyes... you can't tell what it is can you?

Now look at this picture:
Can't tell with that one either?

Lemme zoom in for ya....

How 'bout now?

EEEEEEEK!  Kill it now before we have to kill it later! EEEEEEK!!!!!

Well they all wanted to keep it- Mommy and Daddy were on my side so I stepped out of the way.  We thankfully didn't have to tell them no because it escaped!  Outside of course.  (I can see all you moms- and big sisters- shrieking in horror at the fact of a snake escaping somewhere in your house)
All's well that end's well, I guess....

Have a wonderful and snake-free day!

YUCK! I really dislike snakes almost as much as spiders!!! Even the cute little small ones, you just never know..... they could be VERY poisonous. LOL
Sorry, just call me the drama queen.

The Kids find those all the time...They keep them as pets for a day and then we let them go.
Once Gracia had two and she named them, Horton and Morton :)
They are harmless little black racers...I almost stepped on one once...and at the time I did'nt find it so harmless!:)
Love ya,
Alyssa
