With all the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, you may or may not have heard about the lunar eclipse last night. We were told that the dark side of the moon was to be visible in the eclipse- the combination of which has not been seen for 300 years- around the Salem Witch Trials... The eclipse was supposed to be visible around 2-4 AM.....
I was really exhausted last night and was on the verge of saying "no" to the lunar eclipse viewing- but I felt compelled that God's majesty was more important than my shuteye. I knew I would regret it if I missed it (for the fact that I don't think I'll be alive in 300 years to see the next one) and that if God could be glorified by my viewing- why not get up at 3 AM?
So I set the alarm on the cellphone and got up... I went outside and here is what I saw:
Beautiful, huh?
I was trying to take a photo but I kept getting blurry ones and with a 30-second shutter speed it was taking a while... not to mention it was COLD outside! But finally I took one last shot- what you see up there.
Don't forget to take the time to enjoy God's marvelous works in the midst of this crazy season... A wonderful video to watch that would go hand in hand with the season is The Star of Bethlehem. An amazing and thought provoking video about the Star of Bethlehem and how it came to be using astronomy software and the Bible.
Hope you enjoy!
